From the Principal
Welcome back to Term 2 and what could be a very busy term.
Parent/teacher discussions happened during the second week of term and it was encouraging to see many parents come to talk with their children's teachers about the work that has been happening in class. It was great to sit down and celebrate each child and their progress so far this year. It is also a time that teachers and parents can partner in setting and understanding the future focus for their children.
The yearly NAPLAN tests will be conducted next week for students in year 3, 5, 7 and 9. These provide a quick snapshot of student progress on one particular day so it's important to remember that in the greater scheme of your child's education, they are just one small task that students do every second year. Please encourage them to have a go and enjoy the experience.
As I reflect on student achievement, I am reminded of how we are all created uniquely by God to lift His name high. Every student at ACC Launceston has the ability to praise God in whatever they are doing; in whatever capacity they can manage. Psalm 19 tells us that "the heavens declare the glory of God, ... their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world." Jesus tells us in Luke 19 that the very rocks will cry out the glory of God even if people don't speak up. If the planets and stars and rocks of this earth declare God's glory, how much more can we, with the very breath of God in our lungs! Let's declare His wonders, His miracles, His name and let our actions towards others inspire them to glorify God too.
God's richest blessings to you all.

Uniform for Winter
We would like to advise families that if your child is extra cold and needs some more layers they are permitted to wear navy blue scarves, gloves and beanies as part of the ACC uniform.
Only Navy ones will be permitted to be worn and anything else will need to be put in the students bag. This applies to when students are travelling to and from school as well.
Also if you need assistance ordering woollen jumpers for your child please don’t hesitate to ask at the office.
We have several sports jackets in the office that have not been claimed. If your child is missing any clothing please come and see us at the office.
Also please remember to NAME ALL ITEMS so we can find the owners promptly.
We are introducing ‘Bring Your Own Device’ here at ACC Launceston for the 3-6 class. The 7-10 class started this program at the beginning of the year and the successful outcomes have made us press forward for this next stage. A letter detailing more about how BYOD works will be sent home this week.
Our students enjoyed learning and performing a dance at our Easter presentation assembly so much that I have decided to start a Dance Club every Friday at 2nd lunch in the 3-6 classroom after eating time. Any students from Grades 2-6 who would like to join are welcome but will need to be prepared to commit to the term. In Dance Club they will be learning worship dances from groups such as Bethel kids. Students will also have an opportunity to perform a dance for family and friends at our soon to be announced Performing Arts Cafe Night later this term. Feel free to call me on the school number if you have any queries.
Yours in Christ,
Mrs Mel Cleaver
Welcome Mrs Shand
This term we are excited to welcome Mrs Sandy Shand to our family at ACC here is an introduction to Mrs Shand.
Hi everyone and thank you so much for welcoming me so warmly into the Australian Christian College family! I am so excited to be working with Mr Howell and the students in P-2 and I look forward to meeting all the students, families and staff over the coming weeks.
My name is Alessandra (Sandy) Shand and I live with my husband Sam and our two dogs, in Riverside. I attend a Presbyterian church in Newstead, and in between church events and social activities I keep busy by travelling, bush walking, bike riding, camping, playing netball and working on my many crochet projects. Launceston is our home but I have also lived in Brisbane & Chicago over the last 10 years.
I would love for you to come up and have a chat and introduce yourself if you see me around. I will be around on Mondays and Wednesdays and I also work at a Christian school in Ulverstone the other three days of the week.
ANZAC Day March
Recently some of our students participated in the ANZAC day march. It was a great opportunity for our students to be a part of the community in which they live and also to experience some more of what ANZAC day means.
